WHO FOR ?

Children, adults, senior citizens and sportsmen and women may all benefit from podological care to prevent and treat various skin and nail plate disorders.

FOOT CARE

Ingrown toenail, callus, crevices, ...

Podological care is first and foremost an analysis of the nail, skin and anatomy of the foot. It helps to prevent, reduce and treat pain.

Most common ailments:

- Hyperkeratosis (thickening of the outer layer of the skin): corns, calluses, partridge eye

- Cracked skin

- Nail and skin fungal infection

- Subungual hematoma (bleeding and bruising under the nail)

- Ingrown toenail (overgrowth of tissue at side of nail): stages 1 to 4

- Joint deformities: hallux valgus (bunion), claw toes

- Reduced thickness of the nail plate

...

An appointment lasts 30 minutes. It includes treatment and advice on footwear, correct nail trimming and other recommendations to prolong the benefits of the care and so reduce the pain over time.

SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT

A podologist can provide customised orthoplastics, orthonyxias and oncoplastics.

Orthoplastics: a custom-made silicone toe brace to protect and/or correct deformities of the toes. It can provide relief and alleviate the pain of a callus eventually reducing its size. It is also recommended to treat bunions to slow development of the deformity and ease discomfort.

Orthonyxia: a custom-made nail brace to prevent recurrence of ingrown toenails or to reduce pain from an increasingly curved toenail. It is a metal pin that corrects the nail and restores its normal curvature, making it less susceptible to certain nail disorders.

Oncoplastics: medical reconstruction of a previously traumatised nail.
